SMAC allocates money to five clubs

Student Monies Allocation Committee is making extracurricular events possible for student clubs during the tough economic times. SMAC gave five clubs the chance to take their skills and knowledge on the road. SMAC allocated $5,696.56 to the National Society of Black Engineers. NSBE will be participating in the NSBE National Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. They will represent Tech in competitions throughout the convention.

The Tech Equestrian Team was allocated $4,700.00. The equestrian team will be using this money to attend numerous competitions this semester.

SMAC allocated $4,660.32 to Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. IEEE will be attending the IEE Southeast Conference with the allocated money. They will be representing Tech throughout the conference in various competitions.

The Visual Arts Society was allocated $6,596.00. VAS will be using the funds to attend the Glass Art Society Conference, the Furniture Society Conference, and the Surface Design Association Conference.

SMAC allocated $890.00 to Delta Tau Alpha. DTA will be attending the national meeting held at Missouri State University with the help of the SMAC funds.

Even during an economy where most unnecessary programs are being cut, SMAC is still finding a way to help make the student club’s extracurricular goals become a reality.
