SMAC allocates monies to clubs in spite of current recession

Student Monies Allocation Committee is making extracurricular events possible for student clubs during these tough economic times. SMAC recently gave five clubs the chance to take their skills and knowledge on the road.SMAC allocated $5,696.56 to the National Society of Black Engineers. NSBE will be participating in the NSBE National Convention in Las Vegas, Nev. They will represent Tech in competitions throughout the convention.

The Tech Equestrian Team was allocated $4,700. And the team will use the money to attend numerous competitions this semester.

SMAC allocated $4,660.32 to Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. IEEE will attend the IEE Southeast Conference where they will be represent the University in various competitions.

The Visual Arts Society was allocated $6,596. VAS will use the funding to attend the Glass Art Society Conference, the Furniture Society Conference and the Surface Design Association Conference.

SMAC also allocated $890 to Delta Tau Alpha. DTA will attend the national meeting held at Missouri State University with the help of the funding.

Even during a recession where programs are being cut, SMAC is still finding a way to help make the clubs’ extracurricular goals a reality.
