Tech police arrested Blake McNew on charges of public intoxication and vandalism on Sept.8.According to the Tech police report filed by arresting officer Donald Merriman, several students reported a disturbance on the fifth floor of Dunn Hall involving a white male in a white shirt and blue jeans knocking on doors.
Merriman and Officer Kincaid responded to the report in Dunn Hall when they heard glass break.
Merriman stated that he and Kincaid saw McNew attempting to enter one of the rooms in Dunn Hall. According to Merriman, McNew seemed to be unsteady on his feet and was bleeding from several locations on his body. Merriman also stated that he could smell a strong intoxicant on McNew’s breath.
McNew was escorted into the lobby of Dunn Hall where he refused medical attention. Merriman arrested McNew for public intoxication and vandalism. Bourbon and moonshine were later found in McNew’s room.
McNew is set to appear in General Sessions Court on Jan. 12, 2010 and his bond is set at $1,000.
