Engineers’ Week at Tennessee Tech University offers fun and competition for all engineering majors. This year’s events are scheduled for Feb. 21-24. E-Week is sponsored by the Engineering Joint Council and community members. It provides a wealth of activities, events and competitions to inspire budding engineers.
“I encourage students from the entire engineering department to participate in Engineers’ Week because it is exciting to watch,” said Tony D. Marable, Minority Engineering Program director. (Xanax) “I’m sure those who participate will have more fun than watchers.”
EJC plans and organizes E-Week on campus every February. It is part of the National Engineers Week celebrated around the nation.
“The aim of the week is to create positive awareness and spark enthusiasm about the engineering profession to people of various ages with little or no engineering background,” said P.K. Rajan, professor and interim chairperson of electrical engineering.
It is a nationally renowned event in honor of engineers created by the National Engineers’ Week Foundation.
The chemical engineering department took home the “Best Darn Major” title last year, which pits all the engineering departments against one other.
“I am pretty sure it will be more fun than last year,” said sophomore Shauna Albriton, American Institute of Chemical Engineers vice president, “and our chemical engineering department is ready to roll because we have better ideas and new strategies to defend our title.”
This year’s events include competitions, the annual College of Engineering Banquet, and the annual Engineering Career Fair, a program to encourage young girls’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
“Electrical engineering is the best darn major,” said senior Rushi Amin, treasurer of Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honors society. “If anybody-especially chemical engineering students-come close to us, we will shock them until it ‘hertz.’”
