Football: The Golden Eagles football team is returning to Cookeville for their first home game since the season-opening loss to Western Illinois. The team seeks its first win of the season, as well as its first victory over an OVC opponent. (Subject to change depending on the outcome of the Eastern Kentucky game).
Volleyball: The volleyball team travels to Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 28 with the goal of snapping their 11/12-match losing streak. (Number of losses or the narrative about snapping a losing streak depend on the result of the 9/22 match against UT-Martin)
Men’s Cross Country: The cross-country team is scheduled to travel to Bloomington, Indiana for the Sept. 30 Sam Bell Invitational, where they look to build upon/rebound from (dependent on result of Sept. 23 meet at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Florida) their performance at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Sept. 23.
Women’s Cross Country: The women’s cross-country team recorded a team finish of 13th place at the Sept. 16 Commodore Classic in Nashville. The team is scheduled to compete in the Sept. 23 Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Florida; recap depends on finishing position. The team is on a brief break before their scheduled Oct. 14 Adidas Pre-Nationals competition in Louisville, Kentucky.
Men’s Golf: The men’s golf team is scheduled to return to competition at the Oct. 2 Hummingbird Classic following a brief break from competition. The team finished 10th at the EKU Raising Canes Intercollegiate after a seventh-place finish in the first round over Sep. 11-12. “We’re going to have to be pretty good off the tee,” Polk Brown, men’s golf coach, said. “The grounds are usually in good shape, so it should be a pretty good place to shoot some low scores.”
Women’s Golf: Following a sixth-place finish at the NKU Fall Classic to open the season, the women’s golf team is currently competing at the Chris Bannister Classic in Gadsden, Alabama. (As of Friday, the competition has not started, as it is scheduled to begin on Sept. 24, and is scheduled to finish on Sept. 26, likely after press time.)
Tennis: Senior Eduardo Mena was defeated 6-1 in the first round of the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, California by Michail Pervolarakis of the University of Portland. Mena faces Kennosuke Nouchi of Western Michigan University in the consolation bracket at 3:30 p.m. on Friday (The rest of the recap depends on how far Mena goes in the consolation bracket, which will finish on Sept. 24)
Women’s Soccer: Sept. 21’s matchup with OVC rival Murray State ended in a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods. OVC play continues as the Golden Eagles travel to Belmont on Friday, where they attempt to add another win to their 1-1-1 conference record.
