SGA applications are now available, elections in April

Applications for SGA are available; and elections are scheduled for April 19 and 26.

Interested students must attend a candidates’ meeting at 11 a.m. April 12 in the SGA office, located in Room 115 in the RUC. Candidates also must turn in their candidacy petition at the meeting. The petitions will be uploaded and shared on SGA’s website and social media.

Candidates are allowed to spend up to $750 for their campaign.

“We don’t encourage people to do that [spend money], they just do it on their own if they want to better their chances to win,” president Rachel Martin said.

Active campaigning begins April 12 after the candidates meeting. Elections for executive positions are scheduled April 19, with polls closing at 4 p.m. Senate elections are scheduled for April 26, with polls closing at 4 p.m.

In order to run for a senator position, the candidate must remain in their college for the entirety of their term and maintain a 2.75 GPA. To run for an executive position, a candidate must have been in SGA for at least one full term and must have a 2.75 GPA.
