Frights, fun at seventh annual Purple Palooza

Dozens of children who participated in the seventh annual Purple Palooza on Thursday received treats and tricks.

The hallways were lined with Tech students, faculty and local businesses passing out candy while dressed in costume. After traveling around the concourse for treats, the children were led into the arena where the Tech dance team and cheerleaders performed.

The women's basketball team divided into two separate groups and competed against each other in a five-minute scrimmage. After the women’s team played, the men's team took the court to compete in their own scrimmage.

The dance team put on one more show before the final event, a three-point and dunk competition. The teams were split into purple and gold and each team got a male and a female three-point shooter and a male dunker. The purple team swept the competition, winning all three events.

When the event was over, fans were invited onto the floor for autographs, photos and a dance party.
