Cross-country runner Nancy Jesang set a Tech record for the best Ohio Valley Conference championship for a freshman at Edwardsville, Illinois on Nov. 2.
Jesang finished third with a time of 17:55, which earned her all-OVC first team honors.
Only two other Golden Eagles finished better at the OVC championship. Stephanie Place finished third as a junior and first as a senior in 2007 and 2008. Purity Sanga placed first as a sophomore last season.
Twelve teams competed in the championship. The Golden Eagleswomen’s team finished ninth with 231 points. The men’s team also finished ninth with Ababu Mohamed as a top individual with a time of 26:00.5.
The next event is at NCAA South Regional Championships against Tallahassee, Florida, on Nov. 15.
