All-American Rejects to perform at SOLO Concert

The All-American Rejects, an alternative rock band, is scheduled to perform at the spring SOLO concert at 8 p.m. April 2 at The Hooper Eblen Center.

Nashville gospel and blues singer Devon Gilfillian is scheduled to perform as the opening act.

Nick Wheeler, Tyson Ritter and Jesse Tabish formed the All-American Rejects in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 1999. The band now consists of Wheeler on drums, Ritter on vocals, Mike Kennerty on rhythm guitar and Chris Gaylor on drums.

“If they don’t know all their songs, they at least know the name,” SGA executive treasurer Courtney Fowler said. “It’s a band that I feel has a diverse type of music so it should appeal to different types of students.”

SGA members considered fifteen artists for this semester’s SOLO concert, including Of Monsters and Men, Foster the People and Kesha, Fowler said.

SOLO artists are determined by gathering students’ votes then seeing which artists are affordable and available.

“I am beyond excited. I’ve been on the SOLO committee since my freshman year in the fall of 2017 and The All-American Rejects has been a band that’s just been constantly mentioned throughout my time in student government,” Fowler said. “So the fact that we’re finally able to get them … I’m so so excited.”

Doors are scheduled to open at 7 p.m. and students can pick up their tickets in the RUC beginning in March, Fowler said.
