President Phil Oldham and Tech first lady Kari Oldham made a blog post Monday, Feb. 10 announcing their new “Wings of Kindness” initiative.
Mrs. Oldham noticed the kindness Tech students, faculty and staff demonstrate regularly and wanted to recognize them.
“Throughout 2020, Phil and I will acknowledge many among us who have demonstrated a culture of kindness to others both on and off the Tech campus with the special recognition of Wings of Kindness,” Mrs. Oldham said.
People can nominate students, faculty, staff or anyone else on campus for this award by going to tntech.edu/kindness. The Voice winner and Tech alumnus Jake Hoot is the first recipient of the Wings of Kindness recognition.
Feb. 17-23 was Random Acts of Kindness Week and to celebrate, the Oldhams handed out purple bracelets with the words “wings of kindness” and “choose kindness” written on them.
“The amazing thing about acts of kindness is that they not only benefit the recipient and giver, but they are also highly contagious to everyone else,” Mrs. Oldham said.
