Tech women’s soccer team defeats Moorehead State 1-0

Tech women’s soccer remains undefeated after win against Morehead State

Tech (2-0-0) defeated Morehead State (0-3-0) with a score of 1-0 in their second women’s soccer game of the season. This makes them 2-0-0 during the 2021 spring season. Tech’s first game against Austin Peay had a similar ending with a score of 1-0 on Mar. 2.  

Chloe Smith was able to secure the victory for Tech at the end of regulation. In the 88th minute, Smith was able to kick in the only goal of the game.  

Sophomore Emily Carlevato kicked clean passes to sophomore Bailey Taylor. Taylor also gave a pass to Chloe Smith which would change the game completely, scoring the first and only goal.   

Cassidy Bereda gave Tech four of the 10 shots attempted during the game which ties Smith for the most Tech attempts on-goal with a pair. 

Sarah Block, Carlevato, Gabby Garcia, and Meredith Nye all tried for a shot as well, with Garcia, Carlevato, and Nye all putting their tries on-goal.  

Eva Kiper, Kate Larbes, and Swift all led Morehead with two shots for each player. Morehead keeper Michelle Jerantowski saved six goals during the game. 

Tech will face Eastern Illinois in their next matchup on Friday, Mar. 12 at 4 p.m. CT in a home opener at Tech Soccer Field.
