Tech volleyball team defeated by undefeated Morehead State in rematch
Tech volleyball team (4-6, 4-6 Ohio Valley Conference) lost to an undefeated Morehead State (10-0, 10-0 OVC) in a 3-0 game on Monday, Mar. 8.
The night before, Tech was close to victory in a 3-2 loss against Morehead State, but they did not go without a fight.
Morehead State came out in the first set by getting 17 kills with a 55.6 attack percentage for the 25-16 win.
In the next set, Morehead State took the lead making the score 10-3. Tech was able to come close, but not close enough with the score becoming 25-20 at the end of that set.
The third set ended up with Morehead State taking a 9-0 lead to begin. The deficit was cut down with a score of 15-10, but Morehead State did not relent. They won this set 25-15.
Madeline Furtado helped the Tech offense by hitting .353 with nine kills, a team high. Skylar Boom was able to get five kills and three blocks, and Taylor Dorsey got six kills and a block.
Rookie libero McKenna Young had a team-high of 11 digs. Setter Ashley Hand got 26 assists on the match with eight digs and three blocks. Senior Ali Verzani had five kills and three service aces with five digs.
Tech will be going against Tennessee State on Sunday, Mar. 14 at 6:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 15. Tech will then go against Murray State on Sunday, Mar. 21 through Monday, Mar. 22. The games will be at 6:00 p.m. on day one and 4:00 p.m. on day two.
