Brutally Honest Sports: CFB Week 2 Predictions

Week one of college football was full of entertainment and unexpected outcomes. Week two’s slate, believe it or not, has the potential to be even crazier.

So I’m going to try to do the impossible and predict the outcomes of some of these marquee matchups and pick a game that I think will be a surprise upset. Let’s get right into it.

Arkansas at #16 Oklahoma St.

Arkansas looked impressive in week one with quarterback Taylen Green running all over the place and dominating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 70-0. However, I think reality sets in for Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks as they fall to Ollie Gordon and the Cowboys.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 34 Arkansas 28

South Carolina at Kentucky

SEC conference play opens up with the Gamecocks traveling to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. Kickoff will be at 3:30 EST on ABC and, honestly, I could see this one getting ugly. Give me the Wildcats big in this one.

Prediction: Kentucky 42 South Carolina 20

Boise State at #7 Oregon

This matchup to me is interesting because all the eyes will be on Oregon to bounce back from a lackluster offensive performance in week one, whereas Boise State looked like an offensive machine with Ashton Jeanty running for six touchdowns. I think Boise is a good football team this year, but give me the Ducks to win convincingly and put their talent on display.

Prediction: Oregon 45 Boise State 27

#14 Tennessee vs #24 NC State

Tennessee looked good at every position Saturday against an inferior Chattanooga team. The Wolfpack will have to work out a lot of kinks from week one to two, or this one could get out of hand. Despite this fact, I think NC State will do just that and keep it close in Charlotte. But give me the vols to win regardless.

Prediction: Tennessee 35 NC State 24

#3 Texas at #10 Michigan

Going into this game, based on what we’ve seen in week one, Texas executed better than Michigan did offensively by far. This is a home game for the Wolverines, though, which is huge. I think this game comes down to the quarterback position, so give me the Longhorns in an instant classic.

Prediction: Texas 28 Michigan 27

Colorado at Nebraska

Primetime’s Buffaloes had a week one scare against North Dakota State and, if not for their two stars shining, should’ve started off 0-1. Dylan Raiola looks to be legit and I think Matt Rhule is a good fit at Nebraska just with what he’s done so far. I’m taking the Huskers to get revenge at home.

Prediction: Nebraska 45 Colorado 31

Upset of the Week: App State over #25 Clemson

I know very little about the App State football program this year, but that means nothing when talking about the Mountaineers. I think App State does what they do best, and upset the Clemson Tigers at home. Clemson is not what they used to be, and I could see the wheels falling off very soon.

Prediction: App State 20 Clemson 13
