New dean of College of Agriculture and Human Ecology chosen

Dr. Darron Smith from Eastern New Mexico University has been named the dean of the College of Agriculture and Human Ecology at Tech starting July 1, Provost Lori Bruce announced in an email sent out to faculty and staff Tuesday. 

 

Smith has been the chair for the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences and Agriculture for eight years at ENMU, Bruce said. 

 

Smith earned a doctorate in reproductive physiology from West Virginia University and a bachelor’s degree in dairy and animal science from Pennsylvania State University, she said. 

 

“Dr. Smith brings to us a focus on undergraduate and graduate education, strengths in research and garnering external funding and a commitment to serving students, faculty and staff of the college,” Bruce said.
