I am writing a three-part commentary in response to all the false accusations and writings that have been propagated about us since preaching at Tech for three days this term. I have been a Christian for 16 years and open air preaching for eight years. I have a family of 10, a holiness fellowship I attend with pastors and elders and a small blueberry farm I work to sustain my family and ministry.
The most common objectors to our preaching are professing “Christians” who know very little of the Bible they say they believe. Their objections are: 1. This is the wrong way to reach them. 2. Your preaching is too harsh. 3. You are pushing people away. 4. You are judging and condemning all people to hell. 5. How many people got saved today? 6. Everyone is a sinner, including you. 7. You want people to hit you so you can sue them, win lots of money and this is how you make money.
Ironically, unbelievers cheer with the professing “Christians” at every mention of their unbiblical and false assertions about God, the Bible and our ministry. Woe to you when the world speaks well of you (Luke 6:26).
I would like to address these objections and offer Bible verses that contradict these false views that you may repent and believe the truths presented in the Bible. Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only correct way to reach sinners. It invades the ears, eyes, minds and souls of the sinners to force them to choose which way they will go (Rom 10:14-16, 2 Tim 4:2-5, Is 58:1, Jer 20:9-12, Matt 10:26-28, Luke 12:2-4). Becoming “friends” with them and establishing a relationship is perhaps the worst and most unbiblical method of reaching the lost. Inviting a sinner into the fellowship of saints causes problems within the body of Christ. What fellowship does light have with darkness? (1 Cor 10:20, 2 Cor 6:14, Eph 5:11, Jam 4:4-5)
Our preaching is only as harsh as the Bible portrays. It consisted of hundreds of verses from which we directly quoted. These proclamations were much to the chagrin of most of the student body who attended. Many supposed we were pushing people away. Thousands came and listened for hours at a time and were not repelled but compelled to stay and listen. The Bible commends rebuking and reproving as a method by which the sinners realize the truth of their spiritual condition and God’s wrath against them (Prov 27:5-6, Rom 1:17-32, 1 Thess 2:4-5, 2 Tim 4:2, Rev 3:19).
I have dealt with the first three points in this commentary. I will deal with points four through six in the second commentary and the seventh point concerning our lawsuits, last. I exhort you to carefully study the scripture I have offered to see if you are following the Bible or traditions of men that may endanger your soul.
