Music City to host summer’s biggest concerts

After finals, we have four months until we pick our books up in the fall and get back to our education. Tennessee may not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking about popular music tours, but the Volunteer State has attracted more shows and festivals this summer than any broke college student could possibly attend.
Starting the summer off right, The Black Keys and The Flaming Lips play Bridgestone Arena May 3. Famous for “Mr. Brightside,” The Killers will play The Grand Ole Opry May 12. The Avett Brothers play the Knoxville Coliseum May 16 and Bridgestone Arena two days later.
UK pop sensation Ellie Goulding performs at The Ryman Auditorium May 20, with Bryan Adams playing the following night. Hall & Oates will  perform June 2 at The Ryman as well, but they’re almost sold out with their remaining tickets at a whopping $90. From June 6-9, the 2013 CMA Music Festival will take place at LP Field.
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival spans from June 13 to June 16 in Manchester, Tenn. with headliners Sir Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bjork and Wilco. New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees, and Boyz II Men’s “The Package Tour” will be June 18 at Bridgestone Arena. The next night, UK boyband One Direction are performing their sold out 2013 tour at Bridgestone.

Fall Out Boy performs at The Ryman June 30 as part of their comeback tour following their new album “Save Rock and Roll.” July 13, Ben Folds Five, Barenaked Ladies, and Guster perform at the Woods Amphitheater on Fontanel on their “Last Summer on Earth” tour.
