The Tennessee Tech football team officially began their second spring practice slate under head coach Bobby Wilder on Tuesday, Mar. 25.

The Golden Eagles are coming off of an OVC championship run in 2024 as they finished 7-5 with a conference record of 6-2 in Wilder’s first season.
There is still much work to do in terms of roster management with the spring transfer portal looming, but Tech has done fairly well so far in regards to portal additions.
According to an article by Thomas Corhern on ttusports.com, the Golden Eagles were able to add an impressive slate of newcomers to their 2025 roster.
Some of these players included tight end Brian Courtney from Florida State, linebacker Josh Hand from Virginia Tech, running back Quintell Quinn from Texas Southern and quarterback Kekoa Visperas from Eastern Washington just to name a few.
Quintell Quinn, standing at six foot-one, 225 pounds, has similar traits to Jalen Mitchell, former running back who led Tech in rushing yards in 2024, in terms of size, stature and running style.
Kekoa Visperas could be another potential wild card in 2025, as he led the entire FCS in completion percentage in 2024 while at Eastern Washington with a whopping 74.3 percent.
The Golden Eagles were also able to add offensive lineman Drew Wilder, son of head coach Bobby Wilder.
Wilder was a second team all-OVC selection at center for conference opponent Eastern Illinois and will now be joining his father as a Golden Eagle in 2025.
This newly-constructed roster was enough to impress the media, as the Golden Eagles came in at number 19 in the latest “Never-too-early FCS top 25” by Craig Haley.
With the way the transfer portal is in modern-day college football, it is ultimately the athlete’s decision on whether or not to return to their respective programs or to transfer to another school.
In terms of eligibility, however, it is possible that Tech could see some familiar faces on the 2025 roster if the athletes decide to return.
Such players would include upcoming senior defensive ends Daniel Rickert and Hudson Tucker, upcoming senior linebacker Aaron Swafford, upcoming senior wide receiver D.J. Linkins and upcoming junior quarterback Jordyn Potts just to name a few.
This year’s spring practice will provide an opportunity for the newcomers to develop on-the-field chemistry with the returning players, in hopes of making another OVC title run in the fall.
The Golden Eagles will practice on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week up until the end of April. The Tech spring game will be April 12 and the last spring practice session will be on April 26.
