Tennessee Tech’s women’s track and field team kicked off their season on Saturday at Vanderbilt’s Indoor Opener.
Though Tech did not have anyone win their respective meet, Tech did produce a few impressive finishes.
Cierra Tate ran the 300m in 39.13 seconds and came in second in a field of 64 runners, finishing just two tenths of a second behind first place Sabrina Richman of Austin Peay.
Janet Kwambai, who made herself known during cross-country season, ran the 3,000m in 10:19.13 which landed her second place in her first-ever indoor track meet.
In addition, senior Raven Smith had a strong showing during the long jump and triple jump, collecting two top-10 finishes.
Although they didn’t win this event, there is a lot of good to take from it as the lady Golden Eagles look to defend their title this season.
