Tennessee Tech Young Life leaders held their annual Christmas Wreath Fundraiser to provide high school students from the Upper Cumberland an opportunity to go to a weeklong summer camp at Windy Gap in North Carolina.

Trey Brewington and Delaney Ethridge, Cookeville High School Young Life leaders, said the fundraiser is important for many teens.

“What sticks out to me is just the opportunity this gives kids. It reminds me of how many kids get to go to summer camp based off of this fundraiser and learn about Jesus while having possibly the best week of their lives,” Brewington said.

The main goal of the fundraiser is ensuring that money is never the reason a kid cannot attend Young Life camp and miss out on the opportunity to have an experience that could change his or her life for the better.

“Being a part of Young Life changed me forever. My freshman year, I met a group of people that loved me better than I have ever been loved before,” Ethridge said.

Young Life provides a fun and welcoming atmosphere to all teenagers who are looking for acceptance while inviting them to follow Christ. In doing so, leaders form personal relationships through weekly clubs and small group Bible studies.

The annual Young Life Christmas Wreath Fundraiser lasts from mid-October to the end of November to allow kids enough time to raise the amount needed to send them to camp. Each year, the wreaths consist of an option of a 22-inch Fraser Fir with a bow for $30, a 22-inch Fraser Fir without the bow for $25 and a 30-foot roll of White Pine Garland for $25. The items were handmade by West End Wreaths, which is located in the mountains of North Carolina.
